A stage comes in everyone's life when change is sought. You want to change from IT to automobiles. I feel you should then bid to your MBA in production or marketing or some other specialisation and then seek employment in automobiles sector. Else, even with IT background, you can join automobiles sector. With battery operated vehicles, there is a great scope for software professionals in this industry.

It's nice to know your eagerness for undergoing training after completion of 2nd year of your Diploma. Unfortunately many a times it's left to individual to fend for himself, meaning try to find out an organization willing to accept you as a summer trainee. I would advise you to contact administrative staff of your college for this. They may already be having a system in place for such summer training.

Yes, you can get a job in automobile field if you study mechanical engineering as it is like a sub-branch of mechanical.
But to get into that field, you may opt for a specialization in your PG such as M.Tech in automobile engineering.

Yes, there is a good scope for automobile engineering in India. In the recent days, there has been a rapid increase in the sales of electric vehicles.
As we only have a lesser amount of fossil fuels, the vehicles that run on petrol, diesel, etc., will slowly decrease and those vehicles with alternative fuel would increase.
But in the curriculum of most of the colleges, they don't include the electric vehicles or vehicles with alternative fuel. So, if you are capable of learning and interpreting them by your own efforts, then surely you can shine.
It is not that, the current syllabi would not be deemed outdated as that forms
