Backlogs are never recommended if you are applying to a German institute, but if you have improved significantly then there is no reason you cannot apply. Admission decisions will depend on the university and its selectivity. They will also check your project work, research orientation, SOP and LORs, etc. You may refer to the DAAD website for specific details.

Yes, it's mandatory for you to have taken PCM for your 10+2 stage. Since, the course content assumes some knowledge of PCM from you.

You may not get lateral admission but you can get admission in the 1st-year of any branch since Diploma is considered as equivalent to 12th standard.

Fundamentally, all auto companies produce. Hence, they require mechanical or production engineers. Automobile engineering is required in case you plan to work in design Department.
