There is really no comparison between the two courses. B.Design is more into the creative side while F.Tech is more technical. It's best to see what skills you possess and where your interests lie and pick a field accordingly. You can also see what kind of jobs you get after your graduation to see what you prefer

NID is the best institute in India for design courses.
For the that (Design Aptitude Test), there isn't much that you can do. Firstly and most importantly, you should have an aptitude for design. NID papers are designed in such a way that only those who have a creative side will be able to clear it. The question paper is a mix of creativity, logical thinking and general knowledge. You need to be aware of the latest happenings in the world. Cramming up yearbooks won't help you, seriously. Instead, make a habit of reading the newspaper every day.
After clearing that, you'll have to prepare for the studio test and the personal interview. T

Automobile engineering is quite better than B.Des in automobile engineering or automotive engineering is a part of mechanical engineering. Through the application of automotive technology, the course offers specialisation in vehicle designing, repairing, testing and assembling. In this programme, one can also learn safety engineering, quality management and control, automotive analytics as well as assembling and installation of various automobiles. BE/B.Tech in automobile engineering is a 4-year programme. This programme also involves the study of courses related to aerospace and marine engineering.

If you are interested in programming then BCA is a better option. You may even opt for B.Sc in IT or CS, but BCA being a specialized course, it may have a higher value.
If you want to continue further, you may even opt for MCA after graduation. After MCA, you can apply for programming for any language of your preference or work as a BA.
You can continue with arts as a hobby alongside the technical education.
Good luck.
