Afaik,
I believe the following institutions across India are the best for pursuing careers in physical sciences-
IISC, Bangalore (through boards, JEE, KVPY)
IISER (same as above)
NISER (through NEST)
St. Xavier's, Calcutta & Presidency University (boards & entrance, respectively)
University of Delhi (board marks based).
