You are advised to approach big civil engineering contracting firms doing Infrastructure building work directly for job after Diploma in Civil Engineering. If you open to relocate to small towns where infrastructure work is being executed, you will get job easily. If you are looking for jobs in big cities, then you may face lot of challenges.

Hello Pratik,
The private colleges that are good for civil engineering in Chennai are:
1) SRM University (KTR main campus)
2) Sathyabama University
3) VIT University
Due to less infrastructure at Chennai campus of VIT University, it is least preferred for civil engineering, but Vellore campus is good.
All the best.

Civil engineering is best, because in future there are lots of job opportunities in private, government and PSU sector, and architecture engineering is also good engineering but the job opportunities is little lower than civil.

Level of education is very high and serious here. A guy would struggle if he takes it to be a stereotypical B.Tech college. Almost all the professors have masters and doctoral from the leading IITs of the country. Some of them have also went for research abroad.
Regarding placements, the first batch of electrical and civil engineering students graduated in 2017 and the first batch of mechanical students will graduate in 2018. Half of the guys sitting for campus selection got placed with a highest package of 8.5 lakhs INR pa. Those are really encouraging signs.
