I think if you choose sociology as your subject to appear in UGC NET it will be very beneficial. You can also take Development Planning/ Development Studies as a subject.

The basic eligibility for admission to MA in Mass Communication is a Bachelor's degree in any stream of minimum 3 years duration. It is not compulsory to have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Mass communication but it certainly gives an edge.
