Hello Abhishek,
In old times, there was only electrical engineering. Then as the time progressed and humans made progress in technology a need awakened to start an additional branch which was an extension of the electrical branch and it was called as electronics branch. Here the importance is given to electronics part. However, a detailed discussion, you can find in Wikipedia. It will give you in detail what is meant by electrical engineering and what is meant by electronics engineering and then you can easily understand the difference between these two.
Best wishes to you.

It is very good that you start your preparation right from the first year of college. Two years of rigorous study have paid off, and you very well deserve a break. Studies include basics of every branch. Just observe everything, and make sure you want to get into technical side, i.e GATE / ESE. Second year usually has some important subjects, make sure you don't study them just for clearing the semesters, but for getting in depth knowledge. It is very tough to do that, but once you do that, it will pay you off very well 2 years later. In the 3rd year, join a coaching. Or, arrange some good study material and start serious preparations.

If you are planning to study abroad, the admission process will require you to give one language exam and one standardized exam. However, depending on the country, course or college you are targeting, you may be exempt from standardized exams, but you would still be required to take one language exam to show English language proficiency. Depending on the course and college, you may also be required to provide scores of one standardized test. Looking for Abroad Counselling? You have two option before you start, either to prepare your own or take coaching. Now according to me first one is the best. Coaching will be helpful only when your basic are not at all clear. First download the syllabus and then start preparing. You can refer to the following books:
Power electronics - P. S. Bhimhra
Power system - Nagrath kothari
Electrical machines - P. S. Bhimra
Networks - Valkenburg (Madeeasy notes are sufficient)
Control system - Madeeasy notes (B. S. make, nagrath kothari)

EE branch stands for electrical engineering and EEE stands for electrical and electronics engineering. A child can say that! Then what is the major difference between EE and EEE? It is the syllabus. Both are different. EE students may learn about electrical machines, power systems, controls and instrumentation, power electronics and power systems operation and control. Whereas, EEE students may learn basic electronics subjects like semiconductor devices, solid state physics, linear electronics, embedded systems, digital electronics, advanced electronics and maybe a subject related to integrated circuits as well.
