Hello Sahana, As far as my knowledge is concerned and also from the information data available it's seems that the process of placement and the availability of placement cells in polytechnics is almost not there anywhere across India. This could be because of various reasons and one of the primary reasons could be that Diploma is considered as a vocational course and those who pass out are use in numbers and hence perhaps employers or not interested investing the time to go to different politics and students for the job. To help you I am attaching a link which will take you to the information brochure about this Polytechnic at Harihara

Hello Anurup Roy, frankly speaking Bachelor of engineering in mechanical engineering stream is also one of the best that you are doing. Of course the emploibility of those with background of CSE is always better in the current scenario of the industry and the business. My opinion or suggestion would be to complete your Mechanical engineering with flying colours and then for post graduation you can switch over to this stream. Even otherwise after graduation you can do some courses which will take you into this stream of employment. Be that as it may mechanical engineers also have good placements in the industry in view of the making Ind

There is no upper age limit set for doing B.Tech in engineering colleges as such but the older you are, the more difficult it gets. The reason being firstly you have to have a good reason for the gap years between the class 12 and your B.Tech unless doing some other degree or Diploma course. Secondly your peers would be younger than you and thus can be given more priority over you for placement. So think accordingly.
