Prepare hand written notes: If candidate start GATE 2023 preparation now then they have ample of time. It is advised to them to make hand written notes as it can be read and revised easily. Take guidance from seniors/educators of similar field: You can take suggestions of any educator or senior who have written GATE or have qualified it. GATE is not only the gateway for admission to master’s & direct doctoral programmes in Engineering /Technology/Architecture/Science but also to engineering jobs in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). In the last few years, the exam has witnessed a significant rise in the number of PSUs accepting the score of GATE for recruitment. From 7 to 10 PSU’s in the beginning to around 70 – 80 PSU’s accept the GATE score for recruitment today.
In addition to that foreign universities also accept the GATE score for admission to their research-based programmes. The foreign universities include the National University of Singapore (NUS); Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore; The Technical University of Munich, Germany; and RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

If you want to do M. Tech from government college then you must give the GATE exam. There is no other option to take admission in M. Tech without GATE in government colleges. Yes, private universities are there where you can take admission without any exam.

What this means is that candidates who want to appear for IIT JEE exam must qualify their 12th with 75 per cent marks which is for the General and OBC category while 65 per cent cutoff is set for other reserved categories like SC, ST, PwD.

Yes, you can give the exam, but you can select your branch according to your M.Tech preference.
In GATE official website they given the no of courses list while the branch of engineering is selected the courses which are eligible to write the exam while applying for GATE please read all the instructions in the official GATE website.
