A public business school affiliated with Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is called Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management. The SJMSOM was founded in 1995. The school was renamed the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management in 2000 in honor of Dr. Shailesh J. Mehta, an IIT Bombay graduate in mechanical engineering.

In addition to conducting research, SJMSOM teaches courses in a variety of subjects, including economics, entrepreneurship, marketing, organizational behavior, technology management, operations, and strategy. The institution provides doctoral courses, full-time Master of Business Administration degree programs, and Management Development Programs (MDP) for business representatives. Summer and winter short-term management programs are offered by the school to faculty members of technical and management institutions.

Indeed, SJSOM IIT Bombay is on par with IIM Ahmedabad.
