I don't think there is any other way to get admission in UPES without applying for it. You have to apply for it.

There are many good private universities where you can try for admission. They have their different criteria for admissions. Some offer admission on basis of JEE scores, some offer admission on basis of their own tests and some offer admission on the basis of both. Some even offer direct admission on basis of class 12 marks. Some of the universities also offer scholarships on basis of your performance in class 12 or JEE or even during the course. For taking admission in NIT one should have 75% in class 12th. You can try for your state government engineering colleges. Hope this helps. All the best.
