I think it is not dependent on your rank. It depends on your score of JEE Mains. As you got 42000 rank, so you got almost 80 to 100 marks. But with these marks, you cannot get CSE in general category. If you are an SC or ST category student, then you have a chance. But you can try for other lower rank courses here. So good luck for your future.

In my view, if you are from general category, then your board marks are not much which can cause some problem to take admission here. You can find the cutoffs for the following batches on the website through this link and predict that whether you can get any chance of admission based on your JEE score:-

You have scored pretty well in your JEE Mains. So, there are chances that you will get ECE in some lower NITs, kindly check here:

As per your rank you will not get any good government engineering colleges, so I will suggest you to go for ECE in JIIT Noida as it is the best possible option you can get as per your rank. All the best.
