Now interdisciplinary research in Ph.D. is allowed and it makes possible for you to pursue Ph.D. in the domains like Humanities and Social Sciences. You need to keep an eye on the opening of the admission process and application forms for Ph.D. in universities. This is the right time to see because, in the month of August and September, there shall be many universities starting the admission process for Ph.D. Along with the government. Hello Kavita,
Both these subjects are good choices for doing PG. However from the perspective of landing a job, I think economics will beat history. This is so since it has many applications and tremendous opportunities are available in different fields to experts in this field. Be it personal finance, be it companies, as advisory, etc. while history has limited scope of teaching or few government jobs. Hence I would like to advise you that you should take economics.
