There are UGC NET exam is organized for the candidates who want to become assistant professor or junior research fellowship also called JRF. As you have completed the M.Sc. You are eligible to apply for UGC NET Exam for lectureship. If you want to apply for JRF, make sure that you are under 30 years old. Both the colleges are equally good in academics. But Stella Maris provides us with the platform to exhibit our talents. There will be an entrance exam followed by an interview. The total fee for this course will be approximately INR 20,000 for a year, which means around INR 40,000 for two years in Stella Maris College.

There are plenty of colleges available near Pondicherry for distant learning in psychology. In my opinion, Annamalai University is the best for distant learning. It is a famous university and the best part I like about them is that they call you to live in their university for a month or so for all the practicals and research which no other university provides. Some other universities are:
1. Distant Education College
2. K. S. Memorial education trust
3. Cooperation College for Education.
