Many colleges require a BA Hindi degree or Hindi as one of the core subjects in the UG degree or diploma.There are also colleges that accept admission without having a mandatory hindi requirement.

MA Hindi can be done by distance education. It is cheaper compared to full time programme and also provide flexibility.
There is no need to go for any lectures in person. Aspirants can study online from anywhere while preparing for other competitive exams. The university gives all the study material and notes for the same.
IGNOU is one of the best option for distance education. This is a reputed university and carries brand value.

To be admitted in to M.A. hindi in Panjab University (PU), generally there is no mode of direct admission; one has to pass an entrance exam. To seek admission into the postgraduate programme in Hindi i.e. M.A., Panjab University has its own university level entrance examination called PU-CET (PG). To be eligible to admission, candidates will have to take this exam and score a valid score. The applicants should also have a Bachelor degree in Sanskrit as a subject with 45 per cent marks or average 50 per cent in case Sanskrit was elective/compulsory. To take CPGET for the MA Hindi programme, applicants must fulfil the following eligibility criteria.
- Must have a Bachelor's degree with Hindi as a subject OR
- Must have studied Hindi during the Bachelor's Degree programme, either in Part-I or in Part-II for at least two years and for a minimum of 200 marks.
