Normally speaking, lateral entry mode is available to the students having domicile of the state. Anna University is the nodal agency for the state of Tamil Nadu and all government and private colleges. Deemed to be universities are outside the ambit. Admissions are based on marks obtained in Diploma. Hence I suggest you must score well in your Diploma exam. All relevant information is available on the website of Anna University. There are different quotas for admissions in the engineering colleges in not only Tamil Nadu, but across India in almost all the states. Unfortunately, there is no quota for deserving sportsman can any professional degree colleges. You will have to compete with other students based on the marks of class 12th that your son has scored.
