Lateral entries are only accepted for the students who have completed their Diploma in respective streams.

Lateral 2nd year admission are available in B.Tech Marine Engineering at Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai campuses. The eligibility criteria is as under.
Eligibility for Lateral Entry : Candidates with at least 55% marks overall in: 3-years Diploma in Marine/ Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electrical & Electronics Engineering Or 4-years Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering from any Institute approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education.
And
A minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th/12th/Diploma Examination. The candidate should have completed the diploma within its stipulated duration of 3 years.

If it's diploma than it might be difficult as automobile and marine engineering are completely different fields. Try contacting the college officials for the enquiry. Your best bet is that the college may recommend to enroll you in fundamental course for marine engineering before you enroll in the mainstream marine engineering course.
