IMUCET is Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) is a national-level entrance exam conducted annually by the Indian Maritime University (IMU) for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate maritime programs. 

Only citizens of India are eligible to write this exam. Hence if you are a citizen of Nepal, you cannot attempt to write this exam.

Yes, The difficulty level of Marine Engineeringcourse is similar to any other engineering bracnch. The course structure and syllabus for Marine Engineering course is similar to other engineering branches. Even though studying marine engineering is difficult, it is not impossible. Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and naval architecture are just a few of the many topics covered in the course. Additionally, students must do practical training in stores and on ships.

A career in Marine Engineering is exciting for several reasons. Marine engineers get to travel across borders and experience an adventure. Apart from that, there are numerous financial and health benefits that come along with the job. The salaries even for beginners are exceptionally high with minimal expenses in compariso to other engineering branches. Marine Engineering offers career opportunities in India as well as overseas. There are jobs available in the government sector and there are private companies that hire marine engineers.

The table below shows the general eligibility criteria for UG and PG course in Marine Engineering colleges in India:

Course LevelEligibility Criteria
Undergraduate
  • At the UG level, candidates must have successfully passed their senior secondary examination or its equivalent with at least 60 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM).
  •  They should also have secured a minimum 50 percent marks in English either in Class X or Class XII. 
  • A minimum and a maximum age limit may or may not be a requirement by some Marine Engineering institutes.

Postgraduate
  • Aspirants must have passed their 10+2 examination from a recognised school.
  • Candidates must have completed their graduation with BE/BTech in Mechanical/Marine Engineering from a recognised university and should have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in their Bachelor studies
