Perhaps you can if some universities are allowing it. Normal universities don't. But if I may ask: Why shift from mechanical (great job potential) to aeronautical (lower job opportunities)?

Yes, you can seek lateral admission directly in 2nd year of engineering. Depending on your marks, you will get the college.

Hello Hardik,
You can seek lateral admission directly in the 2nd year of engineering in your own state or treating Diploma as equivalent to class 12th to seek admission in the 1st year in any IIT. For former no exam. For later, JEE Mains & JEE Advanced.
