You can pursue a diploma in commercial arts on the basis of your SSC. But getting a degree on the basis of diploma in mechanical engineering is not possible.

Hello Kiran,
There are many things that you can do in the final year of engineering, but remember scoring handsomely in the last year should be your aim and not appearing for different exams. Additionally, you now have to decide as to which direction you want to take. You can pursue PG in engineering by taking GATE. You can pursue MBA by taking CET, you can join administrative services of Government of India by appearing for UPSC. Sky is the limit. But don't deviate from the immediate goal.

Recruitment of engineers in ONGC as trainee engineer is based on GATE score. You may look for open positions and details in ONGC on their website.

Mechanical engineering graduates on completion of B.Tech can undergo 1 year duration Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) course to enter into merchant navy as Marine engineer. This course is offered by lot of institutes approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.
