Candidates seeking admission to PhD course at Welingkar Mumbai must have a master's degree with at least 55% aggregate (or equivalent grade in point scale wherever grading system is followed) or MPhil with at least 55% aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale is required to apply for the PhD course. Final admission to PhD is based on PhD Entrance Test (PET) score conducted by the University of Mumbai followed by a personal interview conducted by the research centre.

Yes, DoMS offers part-time PhD for executives/working professionals. However, they are required to complete a mandatory course work by attending classes in the campus which may take between six months to one year.

Aspirants must pass two to five years dual degree along with five years of managerial experience (for part-time & external) to apply for DoMS IIT Madras PhD course. Other than meeting the eligibility, candidates must have also qualified GATE/ CAT/ UGC-JRF/ UGC NET/ CSIR-JRF/ Research Aptitude Test, have an SOP and appear for the Personal Interview round for final selection.

PhD students can take the relevant courses in the first one or two semesters, depending on the background, just like a student of MS by research. After the first year, the student works on clearing the PhD qualifying exam which tests his or her breadth of knowledge in the field of study. To be eligible, candidates must have completed a relevant MPhil or master's degree course. Final selection to PhD at IIIT Hyderabad is subject to a valid score in one among PGEE/ Winter Research Entrance Test (WREE)/ GATE exam. The year-wise fee for PhD is INR 60,000. Additionally, the deemed university provides financial assistance towards the tuition fees and stipend to all research students (PhD) of good standing. Normally, full financial assistance requires the student to put in 20 hours of work per week. Financial assistance is provided to all the students during the first semester, but it is continued based on good academic performance. Additionally, the institute also offers a monthly stipend ranging from INR 31,000 and INR 35,000 to the PhD students.
