GRE scores are not required for students with an undergraduate degree from an ABET-accredited degree program. However, students whose colleges are accredited degree programs must give the GRE. The following minimum scores are required to be considered for admission into the MS Software Engineering program:
- Quantitative + Verbal (GRE Q=V) score = 294 or higher
- Analytical Writing (GRE AWA) score= of 3.0 or higher

Yes, the university offers a variety of scholarships for international students. San Jose State University scholarships are of two types; Merit-based and Need-based. However, only merit-based scholarships are available for international students. The need-based scholarships are not given to international students as they are generally federal financial aid. Besides these scholarships, international students can avail of scholarships and bursaries from external sources of funding. Many external funding agencies offer lucrative scholarships for international students going to the USA for higher education.
