Thapar University

Both the colleges are equally good, but I will vote for Thapar University, Patiala because of the standard which the University has maintained since the establishment.
I will try to distinguish between both the colleges with the help of certain parameters:
ADMISSION PROCESS:Thaper University admits it's students on the basis of JEE main marks.Usually cutoff goes higher for Computer engineering (around 180).While SRM University conducts it's own examination called SRMJEE.
CAMPUS: SRM University has a very good and beautiful campus.Student intake is higher in SRM University.
PLACEMENT: Thaper University has average package of around 8 lakhs per annum while SRM University has average package of around 5 lakhs per annum.
Thaper don't have any management quota seat where as SRM had few seats reserved for the management quota.
Fee is almost similar in both the colleges.And location wise Chennai has the upper hand over Patiala.

Hello Reshim. First of all just relax your mind. Just ask your soul that if you appear in JEE Advanced will you be able to achieve a good rank which is sufficient for you to get into a good IIT. If the answer comes that yes I will definitely crack JEE Advanced then please go for advance and leave behind Thapar because it is more valuable then Thapar University. If you are getting a doubt that I will not be able to clear JEE Advanced for I will not be able to secure a good rank to get into IIT then and go for Thapar but simultaneously prepare for your JEE Advanced exam also. I am sure that counselling process for admission will not Hinder your JEE Advanced test and the these two dates will be separated from a great margin so there is no chance forgetting counselling at Thapar and giving your JEE Advanced at the same time. Hi Shruty , Thapar University is very good and it is one of the best private college according to NIRF ranking made by Indian government. It is other thing that nirf ranking depends on other parameters as well from education quality and placements. I myself study in IIIT and i can tell you that no college can give you surety of having a good placement. If you study well in every semester , may be you will not get placed in college but you can try for companies going outside of colleges. Also company always want to hire the best employee. Also in college , no faculty teaches very good as well as very few students focuses well in every class. Most of them will prepare for exam overnight. You have to prepare on your own in engineering colleges where ever you go. So don't be dependent on college , they are just for giving you some degree that you did this course and some placement opportunity , faculty mentorship and nothing more than that. Your marks are good. Choices are never right or wrong , its you who will make it right or wrong. I always believe nothing can help us until we want to help ourself. This is not the story of my college but almost the every engineering colleges. Even in IIT or NIT, students do suicide. So you have to think whether you want to do that particular course or not. Colleges are just for sake of name. No iit or nit tag can give you job unless you are hardworking and independent. Also no faculty in iit or nit colleges can assure you a job. So stop worrying about college. According to my view , Thapar University is still good at this rank. I hope other people here will give you the same advice. Don't think and worry too much in life.
