After completion of M.Sc or when you are in final semester, you can apply for UCG NET. As you are in just 1st year means you are not eligible for UGC NET at present. * Eligibility criteria :-
You must score 55% or above marks in M.Sc. To become eligible for UGC NET if you are General and OBC Category candidate. If you are SC/ST category then you need only 50% marks in Post Graduation. So you can start preparing for UGC NET from now and please make sure that your percentage in according to UGC NET rules otherwise you will not be eligible for it. There is no age limit for Lecturership through UGC NET. If you want Junior Research Fellowship then you have to be below 28 years of age. There will be Written examination in the form of 3 papers which you have to qualify with merit to get the scorecard. The scorecard can be used to apply for Lecturer post in Government colleges. So be well prepared for the paper if you really want to qualify it.

Yes, you can appear for UGC NET environmental science according to your post-graduation subject. Make sure that you should have minimum 55% aggregate marks if you belong to General category or if you belong to OBC/SC/ST/PwD category then you will get the relaxation in percentage of aggregate marks. According to guidelines of NET exam there is an age criteria also, i.e. if you want to apply for NET JRF then your age must not exceed 30 years. For assistant professor this criteria is not applicable.
Application Fee for General category 1000 Rs., OBC 500 Rs. & ST/SC candidates 250/-. You will need a Debit card/ Credit Card for Payment of application fees if you are filling the form at your own. As per the latest notifications, NTA will start the UGC NET online form submission process from 1st September 2018 and last date will be 30th September 2018.
