Yes, you can apply for NET exam after M.Sc. in physics. In fact, it would be the best for your knowledge as well as for the job.

Hi Reena, A candidate must secure at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in his/her Master's Degree or its equivalent exam from a UGC recognised Universities or Institutions. However, the minimum marks required for OBC category candidates is 50% marks. Note: OBC category includes non-creamy layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) / persons with disability (PWD)

As we all know that the difficulty level of the UGC NET is very high. To get sure shot success in this exam, you must be highly passionate and dedicated towards your studies.
(1) Gain familiarity with UGC NET Syllabus. Do not skip any topic.
(2) Start the preparation with Paper-1 syllabus because it is simpler than the Paper 2. You must finish it as soon as you can.
(3) Refer to the best study material with is recommended by the experts.
(4) Make short notes for last time revision.
(5) Manage time properly. Give time to the topics according to their importance level.

Follow a methodical pattern of studying for maximum benefits keeping the latest trends of paper in mind. Don't Follow single books. Try to study selective topic form Truemans & KVS Madan Book. Prepare a study schedule including as many varied topics as you can and study accordingly. Study basic concepts in mass communication for the communication topic. The UGC NET examination has a changed format now. It is a two part examination. There are various publishers who publish books for UGC NET / JRF. Arihant is one of them. But without knowing your subject for which you want to apply and appear for UGC, I shall not be able to say much.

The CBSE has also increased the upper age limit for appearing in NET JRF exam from the existing 28 years to 30 years. The relaxation in age limit will remain same.

As you said you have a Master's degree in Economics, so you can appear for UGC NET in Economics itself. You don't need to choose any other subject under Economics. Make sure that you should have minimum 55% aggregate marks (For general) or 50% aggregate marks (for SC/ST/OBC/PwD category). If you want to apply for JRF, then your age must not exceed 30 years. For Assistant Professor, this type of conditions are not applied.

Hello, According to the new updates, the UGC NET Exam will be conducted by the national testing agency also known as the NTA, The UGC NET is a national level exam which is conducted twice a year. The next UGC NET Exam is scheduled in December while the application form will be released in September. The percentage required for the UGC NET Exam is more than 40% in first paper while around 60% in second paper. However, the cutoff marks is important to qualify the exam. The cut off marks cannot be assumed earlier, it all depends on the various factors. So, wait for the answer key and check your score accordingly. All the best for the exam
