Hello siddharth,
The fee structure differs for each course. There are two groups namely:
Group A and B.
In group B, computer science engineering, mechanical engineering and electronics and communication engineering comes.
And in group A, the rest of the other courses.
The following link gives you the details about the general fee structure:
There are 5 categories and your rank leads you to a category. The above link is the fee structure for category 1. And as the category goes higher, the fee structure differs by 1 lakh.
All the best!

Civil Engineering in VIT is good. Faculties are decent and the opportunities of projects are also as per standards of good engineering colleges. However problem with Civil Engineering is that it is literally a dying field. Don't ever anticipate that after 3-4 years, there will be any progress in this field. Because no matter how many infrastructural projects come up the intake of civil engineers in core jobs will be same. I don't know why it's that way. Talking about placements in the Civil dept of VIT, it's downright poor. About 30-40%. The best company that recruits from VIT is L&T construction. However you'll have to be in the top 4

Hello Ashwani,
VIT Vellore is the better option among these two. Actually for IT both these colleges are equal but according to rankings and reviews VIT Vellore beats SRM Chennai.
If you get any other branches of VIT and SRM then you must be aware of it.
For VIT Vellore is the best and if you get VIT chennai it is better but for SRM only main campus (KTR campus) is only better.
All the best!

Mechanical engineering is not really good in terms of placements at VIT university except the main campus(Vellore)but you can study it in Vellore as many core companies are coming for recruitment.
So you need not worry about it. The only thing is you need to decide whether you can pay the category 3 fees at VIT University ( around Rs 4 -5 lakhs per annum including hostel). I think it is not worthy to pay the much fees and study at VIT.
If you are talented and can study well then you can sur
