As of Fall 2022, UM Dearborn enrolled 870 international students (10% of the overall enrollment at the time). Of these, 621 were Indian students. No, the University of Michigan is generally not considered a global top 10 university.
Without a doubt, it is a well-known university but as per the US News and World Report, under the Global Universities rankings 2025, this university ranked #21.
Under National University, this ranking is #20. So, it is more of a 'top-50 university' and not a top 10.

In the Financial Times MBA rankings, the University of Michigan ranks at #34 in 2026. In the QS Global MBA rankings for 2026, UMich ranks at #22 in 2026. The university was placed at the same position in the previous year.

Yes, there is an application fee for UMich. For UG international stduents, the application fee is USD 75 (Around INR 7.1k). Whereas for PG students, the application fee varies as per the courses. UG students can apply via Common App whereas PG students can apply via the direct application.
