Yes, if you're sure that you want to become an engineer then go for the Diploma and as far as mechanical or automobile goes, you need a very good basic in the subjects like SOM, TOM, Design, Fluid Mechanics, etc. So Diploma will help you. I am studying BE in ME and have done Diploma in mechanical and as far as I have noticed many students in my class find it difficult to tackle these subjects because it's pretty difficult to cover these subjects in one semester.
I hope I made myself clear and answered your question well.
Thankyou.

Hello Deepu,
There are lots of colleges and deemed universities in Chennai and Hyderabad. But, why stick to only these two cities? Of course, if this is your aim then so be it. However, general rule of probability will apply, meaning as you restrict choice, you have to work hard to get a better ranking as only better ranking can take you to your goal.
I am sending link for colleges in Chennai. Similar link you can find on Shiksha portal:

Dear Mohith,
Actually, lots of opportunities and a good salary is available in the automobile sector and that's why people opt for this. Choosing automobile engineering in today's time is a good choice.
In comparison with the software engineer i.e. CSE, it's less good because software engineer has the highest salary package. Moreover, there are lots of opportunities in software sector in India and abroad.
A software engineer can get up to 1 crore LPA which is next to impossible for an automobile engineer.

Hello Suresh,
It's good to know your aim of pursuing graduation after diploma. Normally all colleges offer admission directly to second year of four degree course via lateral entry. Unfortunately this college is an autonomous institute and hence you will have to find information directly from college about this aspect.
Best wishes!

Hello Arvind,
Fundamentally, both are the same. Universities which award degrees in subjects other than engineering also award BE while those institutes which socialize only in engineering award B.Tech. This is colloquial knowledge. It's not law. As far as my advise is concerned both are same.
