In short, BA is the regular undergraduate study programme which takes 3 years to complete. BA Hons is one extra year for extra studies. BA or BA (Hons).
A "Bachelors" or "Honours" Level covers degrees with titles such as Bachelor of Arts, BA (Hons), Bachelor of Science, B.Sc (Hons), Bachelor of Engineering, Being (Hons), Bachelor of Laws, and LLB (Hons). These are standard higher education qualifications recognized across the UK and Europe. Usually you will enroll on either a BA or a BA (Hons). The 'Hons' represents 360+ credits of study typically over three years full time and often contains a substantial project or dissertation during the final year of study. The standard BA is usually known as an 'Ordinary' BA and is equivalent to 300 credits usually omitting the project or dissertation in the final year.

Motilal Nehru College offers bachelors courses for candidates who hold Higher Senior Secondary Certificate with minimum 45% aggregate marks. Bachelors is offered in Economics, English, Political Science, History, Hindi, Sanskrit, Commerce, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Physical Science. While admitting students for a particular course, the candidates' score in top three subjects and one language subject will be considered. Admissions to all the undergraduate courses are merit based. A cut-off list will be published by DU. Candidates who score the given marks in the list are eligible to take admission. The annual intake for Bachelors courses is 1065 students.

All the eligible candidates would be required to fill in the college admission form available at the college office during the time of admission. All the applicants would be required to submit several documents including class X examination certificate, class X and XII mark sheets, character certificate, class XII provisional certificate, ST/SC certificate/OBC certificate, transfer certificate from school along with the migration certificate (in case the candidate has done their schooling from outside Delhi) and three passport size photographs self-attested by the student. For admission into B.A Honors, a student has to pass their 10+2 from a recognized board and an aggregate of 45% marks. The merit list would be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in three best elective subjects and one language subject.

Candidates willing to study the B.A. Programs are required to meet the eligibility criteria for joining the courses. However, there are working students who face a lot of problems to attend regular classes conducted by the institutes. Distance education is a blessing for students in such cases. Eligibility for B.A. Distance Learning Degree Programs:
Candidates who have successfully qualified their 12th standard examination are eligible to apply for the course. In some of the institutes, candidates seeking admission to this course need to possess at least 40% marks in their qualifying examination. The duration of the course offered is three years. Semesters are held in some of the institutes twice a year. Students get the opportunity to select their own subject. Annamalai University, Bangalore University, Acharya Nagarjuna University and Alagappa University are some of the institutes that offer B.A. distance learning degree programs.
