COEP indeed admits students based on lateral admission procedure. However this college is invariably on the top of students preference. As a result, the percentage required is of high order. As you are from open category, you need to score at least 90% in your Diploma.

Once you join Bachelor of engineering course, how you joined becomes irrelevant. What matters is how you complete it. If you complete it with good marks and distinction, then you can get job anywhere including merchant Navy. Just don't worry. Best wishes to you.

Admissions to BMS college of engineering are given based on the ranking in one of the exams namely COMEDK, UGET, KCET. I am attaching a link that will give you all the required information about the admission procedure for getting admission in this college.

MIT, Pune is in the field of education for about 35 years and has become one of the leading institutions of not only Maharashtra but of India. These days robotics is the course much in demand and one needs quite high scoring to get admission. I would say that you should aim for at least 80 and above percentile for getting admission in this course.
