The difference between Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering is that Civil Engineering is related to construction, designing of structures like buildings, roads, dams, flyovers etc. Electrical Engineering is related to electrical work, electrical layouts, design, installation of electrical equipments like electrical wirings, motors, amplifiers, etc.

Hi,
If you have GATE score card and scored more than 70% in B.Tech, then look for direct PhD physics from IIT, Guwahati. You may go with integrated PhD in Physics (Masters + PhD) from IISc cracking an entrance exam conducted by them, provided for appearing in the test minimum eligibility for B.Tech is 55% marks. You may find some other institutions for fulfilling your aspiration in physics.
