There are no such discrete placement data available openly. And moreover, for M.Tech it is really tough to get the placement records. If you still feel like trying, then you can contact the training and placements cell, IITD.

Well, I think I am capable enough to answer the question as I took a drop and cleared JEE then. First of all, it is really necessary to know in what concepts you are sound and in what concepts you can't even handle board level questions. Secondly, as you decided correctly, sitting idle would just make you resistive towards long study hours, which is a basic requirement of JEE.
