The total seat intake for MSc specialisations is 360. The seat bifurcation is category-wise. Hence, the seats are divided amongst the General, EWS, OBC, SC, ST, and PD categories. The mentioned intake is as per the official website/ sanctioning body. It is still subject to revision and hence, is indicative.

Aspirants with a valid bachelor's degree issued by a recognised university are eligible for admission to the PG course. Admission to the MSc programme is offered based on IIT JAM score followed by CCMN counselling. The seat allotment is carried out based on document verification, seat intake, and category of the students, during the counselling. The application process for IIT JAM is carried out in online mode.

Yes, MSc is offered by the institute. The PG-level course is available in seven specialisations, including Chemistry, Biotechnology, Applied Geology, Applied Geophysics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Statistics & Informatics. Moreover, the institute also offers MSc + PhD (dual degree) course in three specialisations including Environmental Science & Engineering, Operations Research, Energy Science & Engineering.

IIT Bombay has a well established Industial Design Centre providing various UG, PG and Doctoral courses such as BDes, MDes, PhD and other short term courses in design and animation. Candidates interested in pursuing the courses at IIT Bombay must appear for the UCEED or CEED entrance exams to be eligible for the admission to the programs. IIT Bombay also offers a dual degree course in BDes+MDes.

IIT Bombay MTech hostel fees is INR 1.71 lakh. The fee amount may include the mess charges as well. Students opting for accommodation facility have to pay the hostel charges. The institute can revise the hostel fee structure in any academic session. The given fee is as per the official website.

IIT Bombay M.Tech tuition fee ranges from INR 2.71 lakh for most of the course specialisations. The course fee is higher for the integrated M.Tech programmes. Hence, the highest fee range goes up to INR 10 lakh. Candidates seeking admission must pay the prescribed admission fee amount to confirm candidature. Moreover, the fee structure is cumulative of other fee components as well. The mentioned amount is taken from the official website/ sanctioning body. The JEE Advanced Round 1 closing rank 2026 for CSE admission was 149 for students in the General AI category. Similarly, for IIT Bombay, the closing rank stood at 65, indicating a very competitive rank for CSE admission. Considering the first-round cutoff, it is much easier to get admission to IIT Madras for CSE as compared to IIT Bombay.

For students belonging to the SC AI quota, a cutoff rank between 13 and 674 is considered to be a safe rank for MSc admission at IIT Bombay. The better (lower) your rank, the higher is the probability of securing a seat at IIT Bombay for MSc. This is the overall cutoff range for MSc admission, including all the rounds and specialisations for the SC category students. IIT Bombay observed an inconsistency in the closing ranks for CSE admission over the past three years for students belonging to the General AI quota. In 2023, the JEE Advanced last round closing rank was 67, which increased to 68 in 2024. In 2025, the admission cutoff further decreased to 66, indicating a fluctuating trend for the CSE branch.
