I would recommend you to go for HC Verma or you can opt MTG books for:
1. JEE Mains Physic: Shyamsunder Raman.
2. JEE Mains Chemistry: Bindu Mangla.
You can also buy a 3 in 1 MPC set concept map book for your class 11th and 12th along with the sample papers of JEE Mains, BITSAT, VITEE, etc.

Almost 80% of the paper will come on the basis of NCERT syllabus, so make sure your basics of physics, chemistry and mathematics should be clear. You can also join a crash course after your board exams from any of the finest institutes or you can purchase some reference books.

You may go through NCERT books and then 38 year previous year question paper. If you can manage time, then go through DC Pandey for physics for better results.

Dropping a year means that you will get sufficient amount of time to prepare for competitive exams. It will allow you take mock up test and help to score good ranking in competitive exams. However, one year is a long time, so the possibility of you may change your goals and objectives.
You may become lethargic because of availability of time and lesser pressure.
