The MTech duration in India is two years. Students can pursue M.Tech courses in a variety of specializations available within the broad fields of engineering. Some of the popular ones include MTech in CSE, M.Tech Mechanical Engineering, MTech Civil Engineering, MTech Structural Engineering, MTech in Robotics and Automation, etc.
The first year of the M.Tech course curriculum is focused on providing detailed knowledge to students about their chosen subject area and the second year is all about project work and dissertation which requires a lot of research and practical application.

Master of Technology (M Tech full form) is a postgraduate engineering degree awarded to you after the course completion. The duration of MTech course is two years in India. You need to have a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field with at least 55 to 60% marks in graduation. For reserved category students, the marks eligibility is often relaxed by 5%.
Students can also pursue integrated BTech-MTech or MTech-PhD courses that are usually 5 years long and offer dual degree specialization, saving a lot of time and money.

The MTech syllabus is not similar in all the Indian colleges. Talking about the first year of MTech, the general subjects taught are in line with the specialisation chosen by you in order to provide you with the foundational research knowledge of the subject area. Further, the M.Tech syllabus will differ on the basis of the specialisation you have chosen and the institution offering the M.Tech course, different colleges follow their own set of guidelines regarding the M.Tech course curriculum that includes both core and elective subjects along with project work in the last semester.

To get admission to M.Tech courses at the NITs in India, you must secure at least 60% marks in your BTech/B.E degree in a relevant engineering field. For reserved category candidates, the marks eligibility requirement is usually 55%. In addition, you must appear for and clear the GATE examination. You must secure very good marks and a decent rank in the GATE exam to be eligible for admission.
After you successfully secure a decent rank in GATE, you will have to apply online and then appear for the CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech) counselling process where you will be allotted a seat according to your rank at one of the NIT bran

In order to secure admission to M.Tech courses at the IITs, you must secure at least 60% marks in your bachelor's degree in a relevant field. For reserved category candidates, the marks eligibility requirement is usually 55%. Further, you have to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, that is the GATE exam. You must secure a good rank in the GATE exam as it serves as the final call for admission.

It may differ from college to college. Every college and university have their own set of guidelines that they follow for admission to various M.Tech courses. The time involved in the admission process may take a few months. After you appear for your entrance exams, the general admission process includes the declaration of exam results, applying for the counselling process online, seat allotment on the basis of your exam rank and admission confirmation from your end.

After your M.Tech entrance exam results are out you need to register online for the counselling process of the universities you're targeting. Make sure to upload all the important docs and submit the counselling fees. You will then receive a confirmation mail or message from the college authorities.
Further you have to log in to the respective counselling portal and select your preferred colleges and M.Tech course for admission. Then seat will be allotted to you on the basis of your rank and score in the entrance exam. After the seat is allotted to you, you must visit the college to confirm your admission by paying the M.Tech course fee

Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) ask for a minimum of 60% marks in your bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering branch. You need to work hard for your final BTech/B.E exams and make sure you get at least 60% marks overall, to be eligible for admission to the IITs in India. The competition is very high there, given their status and All-India ranking in India, and hence, their minimum marks requirement is also of a certain standard as compared to other colleges that may consider you for admission with 50 to 60% marks in graduation as well.
