Q:   Does Amrita School of Engineering offer better placements than TKM Institute of Managementr?

A:

Yes, Amrita School of Engineering offers better placements than TKM.TKM is a smaller state institution, while Amrita University is a highly regarded private university. Because of this, recruiters are more likely to recognize Amrita's brand.
Amrita benefits from its location as well. Being situated in Bengaluru, a major IT and tech hub, it is likely to draw in more top technology companies for campus hiring. It's harder to draw businesses to TKM because of its remote location in Kollam, Kerala.
Amrita Engineering appears to have higher the highest salary figures (up to Rs 40-45 LPA) than TKM Management (about Rs 20 LPA).
As a more recent institution, TKM will have a smaller alumni base than Amrita, but Amrita's vast alumni network aids in placements.

I am satisfied with the college, but the infrastructure and food can be improved.
Placements: The highest salary package offered is 50 LPA. Around 70% of students were placed in our course. Top recruiting companies are Accenture and Schnidinger. Top roles offered are data scientist, web developer, etc. Around 25% of students got internships from our course. Companies are mostly startups.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure in this college is not top-notch, but it is good. Our college looks good from outside. Overall the campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The speed varies from time to time. The library has almost all the needed books. The food is the worst here. Outside food is good. If someone want good food, don't eat in the mess.
Faculty: Our teachers are good. They have sufficient knowledge in the areas of their domains. Some lecturers are good at teaching, but some are not. They are knowledgeable but do not have teaching skills. The curriculum is very good. It focuses on the present and future demands. The pass percentage is almost 90%.
Other: There are very few fests here. If there is a fest, then it will be enjoyable. But don't keep your hopes high.

I am absolutely dissatisfied because of the mess food.
Placements: A specific CGPA is not required for our packages. We do need a CGPA for recruitment by certain companies. A CGPA above 7.5 is considered good. For our course, the highest salary package offered in 2023 was 52 LPA. The average salary package offered was 10 LPA. The lowest salary package offered in 2022 was 3 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Oracle, Verizon, and Accenture. Recruitment is not based on percentages but rather on students' skills. Some students secured internships at Amazon, Microsoft, Wipro, and Oracle, among others. Roles offered are software development and data analysis.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, labs, and the library are good, but our classrooms are not very good. Hostel rooms are above average. The food in the mess is not very good, but students can adjust to the canteen. Medical facilities are excellent. Sports are very good in our college. There is a sports complex in our college.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and are highly qualified. The course curriculum is relevant and prepares students to be industry-ready. From mid-exams to semester finals and lab exams to viva it is very difficult to score a good CGPA. Students have to study daily and complete their assignments and projects. It will be helpful to students.
Other: I don't have any choice, so I chose this course. We have to develop our skills. It will be very useful for internships and placements. Events and fests are held by the guidelines of Amrita College only. Students have to not expect much. If they want, they can join this college based on their Amrita exam. They can join college through the JEE score.

My knowledge about my campus.
Placements: In 2022, the percentage stood at approximately 95%, whereas this year it hovers around 40%. The highest salary package offered was 52 CTC, while the lowest was 3LPA, with an average of 7 LPA. Renowned companies such as Amazon, Infosys, and Cognizant were among the major recruiters. The internship percentage ranges from 50% to 80%, with companies like Cognizant, Infosys, and Google being the prominent ones. Job roles available include process analyst, web designer, and software developer, among others.
Infrastructure: Our Wi-Fi network for laptops is of excellent quality, while our labs are not only spacious but also equipped with advanced equipment and systems. The classrooms are also spacious enough to comfortably accommodate up to 70 members. With 4 fans and 6 tube lights, the classrooms are well-lit and ventilated. Additionally, our library boasts a wide collection of well-known books, offering students access to a wealth of knowledge.
Faculty: Educators provide valuable assistance, imparting high-quality education with a wealth of knowledge. The teaching standard is exceptional, with all instructors holding a Ph.D. in their specialized fields. The curriculum is indeed pertinent, equipping students with the necessary skills for the industry. The difficulty level of semester exams ranges from moderate to challenging, resulting in an average pass rate of around 70 percent.
Other: I selected Computer Science and Engineering due to its higher number of placement opportunities in comparison to other courses. The standout feature of CSE is its strong placement record. There is no room for improvement in this aspect. Additionally, the department organizes numerous events and festivals that promote extracurricular activities.

Absolutely satisfied with the college.
Placements: 60 percent of people were placed in our batch due to the recession and other market issues. The highest salary was 50 LPA, the lowest was 3 LPA, and the average salary was 8 LPA, with most people in this range. Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, etc. 40 percent were placed in startups and some medical field companies. Many companies offered internships with conversion based on performance. SDE 1 roles were offered to CSE background students.
Infrastructure: Everything was good regarding the hostel and classes, but food was not good for outsiders (outside of Kerala). Everyone except Kerala people suffered from the cooking style and taste of the food. So, infrastructure-wise everything was fine, but food and roads were not in good condition.
Faculty: Everything was good, but some junior professors need to be updated to the market and update their skills. Faculty should also concentrate on student coding skills rather than focusing on marks and CGPA because people were getting rejected in placements due to insufficient knowledge of coding.

Dissatisfied with food and some faculty.
Placements: When we joined this college, placements were good. But now, due to the market trends, the placement level has fallen down. Honestly, out of 140 students in our senior batch, only 18 got placed. Students at Amrita University can easily secure internships due to the presence of numerous companies, including innovative labs like Ammachi Labs, etc. All students will easily get free internships. They do not get paid internships. Some of our seniors got some internships as per my knowledge. One of my seniors got an internship at Adobe.
Infrastructure: Our classrooms are equipped with projectors. We have Wi-Fi and a library. Our college has a digital library and many computing labs. The overall infrastructure of the college is good. While coming to the hostel and mess facilities. Hostels are pretty good. They are manageable. We can adjust in hostels. When it comes to the mess food, it is not good. We don't even know the taste of the food. It is not spicy. I don't even feel like eating from the mess.
Faculty: Some faculty members are very good. They encourage research. They make us complete projects. They're very knowledgeable. There are some other faculty who come to teach 3rd-year students with minimal knowledge of the subject. Like every other college, they are still following some old curriculum for our course. It is average but for other courses, they are still following the old curriculum complete the projects current industry trends. In our college, it is not about the semester exams. It is mostly internally based. Our evolutions are like 70% from the internals. The remaining 30% is from the semester exams. Internals are calculated based on multiple things like lab exams, viva, quizzes, and many other things. Semester exams are average.

Good placements, good clubs. I believe we get much more exposure than other colleges.
Placements: Around 80% students get placed. The highest offered package was around 50 LPA last year. The lowest offer goes around 4-5 LPA. Rest of the students mainly go for higher studies. Average placement is around 9-10 LPA. Companies like Infosys, Cognizant, Amazon and Cisco are common recruiters.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is as good as the rating, average. Wi-Fi has a firewall on it and also a limit of 10mbps but that is enough for doing most of the things. Sports facilities are okay. Canteen is also good but only a few selective ones. The classrooms are also very spacious.
Faculty: Faculty is helpful and we can also approach them anytime. Exams are also based on the curriculum they teach with some results we have to find on our own. Course curriculum is also updated regularly and has the subjects which are related to the industry.
Other: There's a national-level fest named Vidyut. And it's also very lively here with many celebrations going on always.
