There are several medical colleges famous for MBBS, AFMC is one of them. It is the first medical college set up by Armed Forces of any country in Asia. It is accreditated with NAAC with Grade "A+". Students interested in MBBS from this college can get information regarding eligibility and course fee from the college page.

Whether pursuing an MBBS in India is worth it is subjective but it is a highly secure, prestigious and also a stable career. But it also demans a massive cost in terms of time, mental and even physical energy.

To answer your question, yes MBBS is definitely worth pursuing in India because -

  • There is almost 100% job security. You will always have work. 
  • Doctors in India are still highly respected. 
  • It is a lifelong profession with no strict retirement age. 
  • While initial earnings are low with specialisation (PG) and experience doctors can earn very well. 
  • High satisfaction from saving lives and helping people.

India is best if you secure a government seat. MBBS abroad is a smarter choice than expensive private Indian colleges. It offers affordability and global exposure, provided you choose an NMC-approved university.

As per the website of National Medical Commission (NMC), around 1,20,000 MBBS or medical seats are available in India. The NMC publishes the List of College Teaching MBBS containing the names of the states, number of MBBS seats available against each state and category of seats- Government or Private.

Delhi NCR has the largest number of Medical in India. Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are recognised for their strong medical infrastructure, higher medical seats, top colleges like Madras Medical College, Kasturba Medical College Manipal, etc.

Yes, Indian students who completed their MBBS degrees from a recognised medical college/university in India can take PLAB exam, just that their college or university must be listed in “World Directory of Medical Schools”.
