If you want to study a PhD in Mechanical Engineering course, it will take you around 3 to 5 years to complete the entire coursework, as it involves in-depth research on a particular topic, including field visits and project work. You need to submit a final thesis at the end of the course duration that is backed by original findings. To be eligible, you should have completed your 10+2 education with physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information technology, Biology, Informatics Practices, or Biotechnology, achieving at least 45% marks ( 40% for reserved categories) in these subjects combined.

The IITs and NIT are among the top engineering colleges in India, but they accept applicants only through JEE Advanced.
