PhD is a minimum of three-year and a maximum of six-year programme. The course is offered in two specialisations. Admission to PhD programme is governed as per the rules and regulations by the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). Candidates are shortlisted based on the SSPU entrance exam followed by a personal interview round. Candidates who have qualified UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ GATE/ SLET/ ICMR JRF or teacher fellowship holders are exempted from appearing for the SSPU entrance exam.

KJ Somaiya has mutiple eligibiltiy criteria for its PhD programme, which are as follows:

  • The Candidates must have Master’s degree or Professional Degree or Full time Diploma declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding Statutory / Regulatory / Apex body, of Universities which are recognised by UGC with at-least 55% marks in aggregate of all years / all semesters or its equivalent CGPA grade ‘B+’ in the UGC 10 – Points scale or an equivalent CGPA grade in a other points scale wherever grading system is followed

The Kerala SET exam is not compulsory for pursuing a Ph.D. in Kerala. However, it is important to note that many universities and research institutions in India consider Kerala SET or similar exams such as UGC NET & CSIR NET as a qualifying criteria for admission to their Ph.D. programs. IGNOU provides Ph.D. programs in 42 different specializations at the doctoral level. A PhD might take as little as three years to as long as six years.

Candidates must possess a master's degree in a subject area from an accredited university, with at least 55% aggregate (50% for SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy Layer), differently-abled candidates, and other categories of candidates). Meets the eligibility criteria for admission to the national IGNOU entrance test.

To get admission candidates have to visit the official website of IGNOU and fill the application form by submitting all the required information and upload the documents.

Applicants need to follow the below mentioned tips to qualify JEST exam. 

  • Go through the exam pattern and structure of the test.

  • Follow best books for JEST preparation and make short notes.

  • After completing the syllabus, they should take regular mock tests and analyse their performance.

  • Solving JEST previous year question papers will also help them to understand the question trends and types to expect in the actual exam.

No, JEST 2024 was conducted for a total of 100 marks for this year. Though last year the exam was conducted for 300 marks. The total number of sections, marking scheme, total number of marks for each part were different from the last year exam. 

This JEST exam pattern was same prior to last year, so most likely this exam pattern will be continue to be the same for the upcoming year exam.
