Yes, PhD in English programme available at Indira Gandhi National Open University, also known as IGNOU. It is a public distance learning university located in New Delhi, India. For admission to the PhD in English program, the University conducts an entrance exam which is organised by NTA. But IGNOU Admission to the Doctor of Philosophy ( PhD ) in English is completed for the year 2024 by june 31st. So, you have to wait for a year if you want to pursue PhD in English at IGNOU.

Yes, you can pursue PhD Economics in distance mode. There are over 100 colleges in India that offer the course in distance mode out of which 52 are government colleges, 42 are private-run and 39 are semi-government colleges. Most of these colleges accept UGC NET, CSIR NET and GATE exam score for admission to the course.

By doing MA in economics you have developed a very good analytical skills and strong Foundation by learning theoretical as well as practical skills that will help you in solving real life problems. Economic and Management are two different things. You can definitely do PhD in management, specially in the areas like Business economics, managerial economics, organisational behaviour, strategic management and financial management . No, DM is not equivalent to a PhD. These are two types of PG courses in Medicine and health sciences with different points of focus and purpose.
DM is clinical and focused in orientation with the focus being on the care of patients and practice of medicine.
But PhD is focused towards research and contributes to the body of knowledge in science.
