Yes, all full-time PhD scholars who are shortlisted for provisional registration are paid INR 25,000 per month for a maximum period of three years. Those who have qualified in UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET (including JRF)/ GATE/ GPAT are paid INR 31,000 per month for a maximum period of three years. The eligibility for availing stipend every year, subsequent to the provisional registration, is based on the progress made in research during the previous year, as part of PhD.

Candidates seeking PhD admission are required to appear for an entrance test conducted by SRM IST. This test is conducted via CBT mode. The test is followed by a presentation and PI round conducted by the related department. However, those who’ve qualified UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE or teacher fellowship holders are exempted from writing the deemed university-level entrance exam for admission.

SRM Institute of Technology Kattankulathur offers PhD at the doctoral level. The course is offered to three category students, namely full-time, part-time and part-time external candidates. While the duration for full-time course range from three to five years, the duration for part-time course range from three to six years. SRM University offers PhD in 60 specialisations. Additionally, Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT-Phase II initiated by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) of the Government of India allots two full-time PhD seats to the institute.

Yes, JNTUKK offers PhD programme. To pursue PhD, a candidate needs to complete Master’s degree in the concerned discipline or equivalent with 55% aggregate (50% in case of reserved category candidates) from a UGC recognised university.

LNMU conducts PhD Admission Test (PAT) for accepting admission to the programme in September, every year. The exam consists of two papers of 100 marks each in both English and Hindi medium. The paper I of PAT consists of MCQs on quantitative teaching and research aptitude whereas paper II comprises subjective type questions based on the syllabus of previous qualifying PG degree.

 Lalit Narayan Mithila University conducts PAT for accepting admission to the programme in September, every year. However, candidates with a valid UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ GATE score or teachers of LNMU and its affiliated colleges or non-teaching employees of LNMU with over five years of working experience are exempted from PAT and are granted direct admission provided that they fulfil the PhD eligibility criteria.
