Selection to PhD at Allahabad University is offered on the basis of one among CRET/ UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ GATE exams In addition to these entrances, students must have completed their UG and PG degrees in the relevant stream with at least 55% aggregate. The CRET exam conducted for PhD admission consists of two papers of a total of 300 marks. This exam is conducted for 43 subjects with 734 seats out of which 316 seats are department/centres of the university and the remaining 418 seats are for the constituent colleges of the university.

Yes, UNOM admits candidates in PhD programmes based on merit in entrance-based. Candidates are shortlisted based on scores in the Madras University Entrance Test. These shortlisted candidates become eligible to participate in the personal interview round. The University of Madras also accepts UGC NET/CSIR NET scores. Candidates applying for these entrance exams need not take the university exam and are directly called for the interview round. Further, it is also crucial that each of the candidates meets the course-specific eligibility requirements.
