Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% to 70% aggregate or 6.0 to 7.0 CPI is the basic eligibility for the PhD programme offered at IIT Guwahati. Candidates with a four-year bachelor’s degree/ equivalent qualification with a minimum of 70% aggregate or 7.0 CPI can also apply. The aspirants must also hold the relevant documents as a proof of eligibility.

One who wants to apply for the P.hD course must have a post-graduation degree in the respective subject with good marks from some recognised university.There is a 5% relaxation for the reserved category students as they have to obtain 50% marks in their final year.

The PhD application came two times a year one is in the monthe of November and another in the monthe of May.

For taking admission in PhD one has to qualify the entrance exams which is conducted by NTA followed by Interview which is conducted by IGNOU.

To apply for a post-doctoral program, you can: 
 
  • Contact a faculty member at IISER Pune with a recent CV and research proposal. The faculty member must agree to act as your mentor.
  • Apply if you have submitted your Ph.D. thesis. You will receive an admission letter after receiving all required documents.
  • Apply if you are a fresh PhD, a PhD with less than 2 years of experience, or a research scholar who has submitted their thesis and is awaiting examination. You should be preferably below 32 years of age.

No, you can not go for a distance PhD. As per UGC, one can pursue only PhD in regular mode either full time or part time. You can go for part time PhD from any university.
