It is phenomenally easy to confuse the term 'Doctor,' as both a PhD and MBBS are referred to as 'Doctor'; however, they have very different roles and expertise.
 
An MBBS has been given the authority to practice medicine and treat patients as a medical doctor. They can diagnose you, prescribe you treatment plans, and perform surgeries on you.

Students seeking to pursue the PhD admission at Kaziranga University must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:

  • A Master's degree with a minimum of 55% marks or is equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 10-point scale OR a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 75% marks or equivalent.
  • Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with atleast 55% marks in aggregate or it's equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.

The universities some of which provide such opportunities are: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, University of Delhi, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. These have research opportunities available in Geography, Remote Sensing, GIS and allied fields. Aspirants, to be eligible, must write GATE exam. However, for final selection, the institute conducts a college-level entrance and also conducts a Personal Interview round to shortlist students. In addition to this, candidates must have also completed their master's degree in Engineering/ Technology along with a bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology with 60% aggregate.

Eligibility: The applicant must have passed the master's degree in the concerned subject with aggregate marks of at least 55%.
Entrance Exams: Admission will be done through entrance exam scores from a recognized test like GATE, CSIR-NET, or JRF, which is followed by an interview. 
The duration of the Ph.D. course is around 3 years.
