Hello Hartej,I do not think that Thapar offers B.Tech in information technology, however they offer two other courses in Computer Sciences which I feel are perhaps equivalent to B.Tech in IT. DTU is far better than the Thapar, it is so because the ranking you see might be of the Thapar in that they will always keep themselves above many colleges.

I'll prefer you to opt for the VIT as this college is far better than the Thapar University as VIT is one of the top private college of India and also this college is better than Thapar in every respect whether it is placements, faculty or infrastructure.

There is no entrance examination for students seeking admission under FN/NRI category to any program. The admission shall be on the basis of PCM (in Aggregate) in 10+2 level or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks.

Yes, you can but in the last round of the counselling or in the spot round as in that almost 10% seats are left vacant. In that, you can easily get admission in this college.
