Hello Issac,
Duration of engineering course is minimum of four years as mandated by AICTE. Definitely no genuine college can offer you BE in just one year. Only concession is admission to direct second year for diploma holders.
So please check authenticity of the institute that you are talking about.

Hello Tejas,
In engineering colleges, student scoring the highest percentage in his/her first year gets a chance to change the branch in second year. There might be similar scenario in your institute as well. I would suggest you to go to the administrative department and ask regarding this, as every autonomous institute has their own set of rules and regulations for this process.

BITS stands out 5th in the list of best engineering colleges in India including BITS. Comparing a branch is not easy as even the students of manufacturing and civil departments get into oracle with a package of 22 lacs.
