IIT, Varanasi is among the top 6 public sector engineering colleges in India and has great reputation for its excellence in placements and faculty for all the different branches of undergraduate programs that they carry out.
This question is a little more complex to answer because of the fact that you have not mentioned any of the branches for departments in particular that you want to know the status of placements for hence I would consider all branches at an overall to answer this question.
The college supports best of the placements being an Indian Institute of Technology and one can be assured that he or she is in the best hands in the country.
One can expect an average placement package of 7 LPA considering all the departments in the college and the total was placement percentage of around 85%.
The highest placement package offered to the college was 1. 12 crore being an international offer made by a cop company.
Hence I would recommend you to take up admission to the college without any doubt.

Civil engineering is one of the old branch so if someone is unable to choose good college then it is difficult to get placed. Christ University and ACED Bangalore are the best college but I think Christ University is the best option for civil engineering. Christ University Bangalore, formerly known as Christ College (Autonomous), is an academic fraternity of individuals Established in 1969. Christ University is famed for having a record of success in the field of education.
The infrastructure and campus is one of the best in the country. In the busy and traffic obsessed city, the campus is very calm.
Teachers are mediocre, at best: Most of the teachers are either too loud or too soft, most of them read and dictate directly from the books. 80% of the teachers are from good college of India and they are friendly with the student which is really important for student.
Fabulous placement records for professional courses in the commerce department. However, more than 90% of students opt out of placements as they either go for higher studies.

Heritage Institute of Technology situated in Kolkata is a private institute taking the students for engineering stream.
Though the college is not so much remarkable and up to the mark when it comes to infrastructure but is improving itself and hence can be considered as okay.
Now, coming to the placement stats, the average placement from here is around 3 to 4 lakh and highest package offered is from Microsoft which is around 16 lakhs.
Although, the above placement data is from CSE, ECE, IT, etc.
Also, frankly speaking, the college do not have a good placement record other than these three branch though, many IT based companies visit for mass recruitment such as TCS, Infosys as well as Wipro.
Also, the faculty members are good, but not up to the level to meet the requirements of industry as well as modern world.
So, in all, the college is good for the core branches only, and should not, be preferred for distance education. Although, students from West Bengal can have it as their last option but for the three mentioned branches.

BE placements from Jadavpur university are far better as compared to other institutions of Bengal.
There is a large scope for civil engineers in both corporate as well as the North East India, where Jadavpur university students find a path to do better in future.
Talking about the average placements from the university, it is been around Rs 6.5 lakh per annum, the highest being Rs 15 lakh and lowest being Rs 3 lakh.
Since there are many companies visiting for non-civil fields then also civil students participating and getting selected are contributing to high placement percentage.
Though overall, university is very nice, but one should get more information about the locality and culture of the university before taking admission as it may not suit the north Indian as told to me by one of my seniors.
Also, the admission process is through West Bengal JEE conducted every year where one has to perform the best for getting into a civil branch of the most elite institution of Bengal.

As all the branches of engineering have different criteria for judgement as well as the different purpose of serving the people. So the branches cannot be compared at all with each other as all the branches require stringent hard work and knowledge for the better future scope. When talking practically considering academics, study pattern for computer science and engineering is the toughest as it has no pre-decided official syllabus and the questions can be asked from any perspective throughout the whole world. Although computer science students almost have all the work to be done in office whereas civil aspirants have their work in the construction sites as well as on the paperwork regarding designs and structures of the towers. So one can find a large scope in India as well as in foreign.
