It will depend on your overall student profile. If you have enough extracurricular activities credit, good scores in TOEFL or GRE (if required), and you are able to convince the admission officer from the content of your statement of purpose, then you can get admission.

It will be better if he go for B.Tech engineering and complete his graduation because after graduation, he can get a good salary package and a good job. Only diploma will give you a job but with less salary.
