Electrical and Electronics Engineering

BIT, Mesra is regularly ranked within the top 15 engineering colleges in India. One of my friends' experience of this college:
Faculty -
It is certainly not the best in the country, not even close. Some of the older professors are good but almost zero focused on research, means they are very outdated in terms of knowledge.
Academic load -
It borders between zilch and extremely light. It also varies between departments though. Electrical and electronics was pretty well taught and rigorous, whereas computer science was a stroll in a park. Electrical department has some very strict professors. Mechanical department is refreshingly hands on and students gain a very good practical understanding.
Facilitates -
Facilities (sports, labs and infra) are about at par with the NITs, although there is a lot of inertia whenever new infrastructure is to be installed. The college only had campus-wide LAN network in 2006. Even now, I hear the speeds are dismal and many useful websites are blocked.
Placements -
Due to the location, placements were not really something the institute could really brag about until after about 2006-07 onward. Nowadays, placements are quite stunning and companies like Facebook have offered mega packages and overseas jobs to a few students. In terms of quantity, placements have always been almost 100% with everyone landing some kind of job, and about 30% of the students end up with multiple offers. Another thing that holds it back is the location. Because of that, adequate exposure isn't available. Hence, a lot depends on your sustainability and curiosity out of the box.

Each branch has its own scope and opportunities so I can tell you the basic difference between both the branch then you can decide which branch is more suitable for you. Electronic communications engineering (ECE) is the utilization of Science and math applied to practical problems in the field of communications. Electronic communications engineers engage in research, design, development and testing of the electronic equipment used in various communications systems. It is due to electrical engineers that we enjoy such modern communication devices as cellular telephones, radios and television. Electrical engineering is one of the core fields of engineering, always evergreen in terms of scope and job prospects. Electrical Engineering is the heart of whole engineering discipline. Nowadays, we see Electronics playing an important role in the implementation and control of Electrical Machines. Keeping this in mind the course has transformed from core electrical Engineering into a fusion of Electronics and Electrical and has been renamed as Electrical and Electronics engineering or simply EEE.
At last if I had to choose a branch between EEE and ECE than I would have selected EEE.
