See everytime basis of marks shifts a lot, so exactly how mch marks you should score that totally depends on the advance you are appearing. But score around 50% should be enough.
Rank around 5000 (bottom mark) would be enough to get you enrolled in btech mechanical in ism. Rank around 6500 will get you in the electrical. These figures will be valid till ism is not upgraded to an IIT. After conversion figures may decrease as the branches are core. But if you are looking for mech or elec you should better prepare hard to get these in other higher ranked IITs. You can opt for mech here in ism, department is very good, well furnished. But
