At GIBS Business School there are numerous clubs, committees and activity groups available for students to join. These are intended to assist students with personal and professional development in addition to the knowledge gained in a formal education.

The IRE (Innovation, Research & Entrepreneurship) initiative is a great advantage for GIBS students. It provides them with the ability to work on their business ideas, innovation projects, and start up concepts through a number of different types of workshops, talks, or other hands on activities.

Student run committees, such as the placement committee, and student event teams, provide students with the means to gain industry exposure through their coordination of numerous industry events, campus activities, guest speakers, and corporate interactions.

A great number of students have stated that their club participation at GIBS has helped them to become more confident individuals, more active, and better prepared for the industry with improved networking and interpersonal skills. In addition, many of the online student discussions we reviewed noted that active involvement in the student clubs at GIBS resulted in greater self-confidence.

Faculty at GIBS are reported by students to be quite supportive, and they are known to be accessible outside of class. During orientation, many students reported receiving personal assistance from their professors in adapting to a new environment and an academic setting.

In addition to supervising and attending various events held by students, many students reported that professors helped students prepare for their presentations, rehearsal schedules, planning for events, team-building activities, and providing mentoring. Many different reviews indicate that professors help students develop self-confidence, teamwork skills, oral communication skills, and hands-on exposure through constant interaction with their mentors.

Students appreciate the mentoring culture at GIBS and all of the many career-related services provided by professors, such as career advice, assistance preparing for employment, mock interviews, resume assistance, and one-on-one guidance when necessary. Many students stated that faculty members were available to assist them with all their questions related to academics and career-related goals, even after normal business hours.

Overall, feedback from students suggests that the faculty involvement at GIBS provides students with an environment that is both nurturing and professional in nature, centered on providing opportunities for both academic and personal development.

Students are able to network with Industry leaders through various forms of Conglomerates, Guest Lecturer, Start-up Meets, Leadership Talks and Networking Functions through Flagship Events at GIBS Business School. These events give students real life exposures to industry expectation trends, as they are able to connect CEOs, Entrepreneurs, HR Professionals and Corporate experts directly to campus.

Students will also have the opportunity to network with these speakers and develop their confidence, as well as have the chance to improve their Communication Skills, Acquire a Mentor and potentially explore Internship/Placement Options through industry connections.

Most programs at the Global Institute of Business Studies (GIBS) employ interviews and, on occasion, Group Discussions (GD) as part of the selection process.

The selection process at GIBS consists of four distinct steps: Application Submission, Entrance Examination Score Assessment, Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). After a series of steps, all applicants are evaluated using multiple criteria.

1. Application Submission
Applicants submit an application (either online or by mail) containing academic and biometric documentation.

2. Entrance Exam Score Assessment
Per GIBS regulations, applicants must demonstrate competency by having their scores from one of the following tests: Cat, MAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA and GMAT.

3. Statement of Purpose
Shortlisted candidates must submit a written SOP addressing their goals, interests and plans for their careers.

4. Group Discussion
In a group discussion, applicants are assessed on:

•  Verbal and written skills;
•  Collaboration;
•  Leadership;
•  Self-assurance; and
•  Problem Solving.

5. Personal Interview
In face-to-face interviews, GIBS evaluates:

•  Competence in the subject area;
•  Understanding of career potential;
•  Personal attributes;
•  Self-assurance; and
• The applicant's overall character.

6. Final Selection of Students

• Final Admission will be granted based on:
• Entrance Examination Score;
• Academic Performance;
• Statement of Purpose;
• GD/PI Performance; and
• Extracurricular and Career Experience.

Based on a distribution between the weights outlined below, the final selection will be determined.

Global Institute of Business Studies (GIBS) is dedicated to teaching students through experience and hands-on learning as opposed to only classroom settings. An IRE School created specifically for the PGDM student that operates each Friday. The IRE School focuses on entrepreneurship, research and innovation through workshops, activities, and interaction with industry experts and entrepreneurs.
The implementation of the IRE process involves creating ideas for new companies, conducting research, preparing business plans, developing a prototype or model of what the company will look like, and developing presentations to pitch those ideas to potential investors. Throughout this process, students will have the benefit of interacting with industry experts and entrepreneurs.

At GIBS Business School, internships and industry projects form an intricate part of the PGDM and MBA programmes.

According to the PGDM curriculum, GIBS features:

•  Industrial Internship Projects (IIP),
•  Live projects and experiential learning activities within its academic framework.

Specifically outlined in the PGDM syllabus is the Industrial Internship Project (IIP) that provides students with real-world exposure in the industry and unites classroom theory to practical and real-world business interactions.

Regarding the placement brochure concerning GIBS, it reiterates that:

•  PGDM students must successfully complete their Industrial Internship Project to qualify for their PGDM degree;
•  An Industrial Internship Project receives academic credit and includes both evaluation and viva-voce components.

Students' discussions and Q&A forums also suggest that internships, live projects, industrial tours and company projects have been included within the course framework as integral components rather than as addendums to the PGDM Programme.
